Here I am at 37 weeks with only 3 weeks to go!
"Bed rest" really ended up just taking it easy for the first few weeks after the cerclage was put in and then I was pretty much back to doing everything I was doing before with a few exceptions. I continued to see a perinatologist every two to three weeks and she would monitor how my stitches were holding up and check the baby out as well. Which I couldn't really complain about getting to see the baby so often through the ultrasounds! So , that was a definate bonus! Throughout my frequent visits to the doctors the baby went breach at about 27 weeks or so and has been breach ever since. At about 32 weeks I went in for an ultrasound where the doctor found an abnormal growth about 4 cm in diameter right next to the babies bladder. Turns out it was a cyst or a tumor growing on the babies ovary...so now we know that we are having a baby girl! So my dr. refers us to a pediatric surgeon in town and tells us that the baby will have to have surgery within the first few months of life to remove the cyst!:( Not cool! Three weeks later I went in for my last checkup and ultrasound with the perinatologist and she was unable to locate the cyst after searching very thoroughly! I was extremely relieved but then I wondered if the baby really was a girl...I asked the dr. if she was sure it was a girl and she confirmed it by showing me a shot of the babies "girl gear". So as of right now the plan will be to do an ultrasound on the baby after she is born just to make sure the the cyst doesn't exist. I know that the Lord had a hand in this tiny miracle for our sweet baby! I know that many prayers were said on her behalf that she would be watched over and be healthy! We are so blessed!
If baby girl hasn't turned by Tuesday this week at my next appointment, my Dr. will schedule a time to try and turn her later on in the week, and take my stitches out at the same time. I have been hoping and praying that she will turn on her own!
Wyatt is excited about his baby sister...he's told us from when he first knew we were going to have a baby that it was a girl/sister! However, I think he believes that his baby sister is going to continue to live in Mommy's tummy forever!
